Children's comfort care
We adopt a calm and welcoming approach for young patients. Paediatric sedation, including deep sedation and general anaesthesia in a controlled theatre setting, is considered only after a thorough clinical assessment to ensure safety and suitability.
Care starts with an assessment. Sedation can be used when suitable for the young patients. Eligibility, preparation, pain-control options and aftercare are discussed with parents before treatment.
From routine prevention to dental concerns, your visit starts with a conversation and a care plan shaped around your needs.

Regular examinations and professional cleaning to support optimal oral health, prevention and early detection.

Family Dental Haven welcomes children and families. When booking, share your child’s age, the reason for the visit, how long the habit or grinding has been present, and whether you have noticed pain, tooth wear or bite changes. Thumb sucking and teeth grinding can affect children differently as they grow, so the dentist will first assess the teeth, bite and jaw development before recommending reassurance, monitoring, positive habit support or further care. Avoid shaming or punishing your child for the habit.
The dentist assesses tooth alignment, bite and jaw development, then discusses whether braces or another next step may be appropriate. Treatment type and timing depend on the clinical findings, growth, oral health and individual goals. The clinic will explain which options are available on-site and whether any referral is recommended.
Paediatric sedation may be considered for suitable children who need additional support with anxiety or treatment. It is not appropriate for every child and does not replace an individual pain-control plan. The clinic first reviews the child’s medical and dental history, treatment needs and suitability, then explains the available option, benefits, risks, preparation, pain-control approach and aftercare to the parent or guardian. Contact the clinic to arrange an assessment.
There is no single check-up interval that is right for everyone. Dr Tsholo will recommend a recall schedule based on your current oral health, treatment needs and risk of future problems. For a first visit, bring identification, relevant medical information, a list of current medication, and any previous dental records or X-rays available to you.
Contact the clinic as soon as possible and describe what happened, your pain level, swelling and any other symptoms. Keep the area clean, avoid chewing on the affected side and, if a piece of tooth has broken off, keep it safely in milk or saliva and bring it with you. For severe or spreading swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, breathing or swallowing difficulty, or significant facial trauma, seek urgent medical care.
The right option begins with an examination of your teeth, gums and bite. Depending on your needs, Dr Tsholo may consider treatments such as professional whitening, tooth-coloured bonding or restorations, veneers or crowns. Missing teeth may be replaced with a bridge, a partial or full denture, or dental implants. Suitability depends on your oral health, bone support, medical history, goals and budget; the clinic will confirm which options are appropriate, available on-site or need referral.
Treatment cost depends on the findings, materials, complexity and number of visits, so an accurate estimate usually follows an examination and any necessary imaging. Before proceeding, ask the clinic to explain the recommended plan, alternatives and expected fees. The aim is to keep treatment comfortable: local anaesthetic may be used when appropriate to numb the area, although you may still notice pressure or movement. Tell the dentist about anxiety or discomfort at any time so care can be paused or adjusted.
